December: The Heart of the Season

As we move into the final month of the year, I’m feeling especially drawn to the energy of Anāhata — the Heart Chakra. December naturally invites reflection, softening, and reconnection. It’s a time when your body often asks for gentleness, grounding, and spaciousness, and Anāhata offers exactly that.

This chakra sits at the center of your chest, governing the qualities of compassion, connection, breath, and emotional balance. When your heart space is open and supported, your whole system feels more receptive and steady — a perfect companion to winter’s quieter rhythms.

This month, I’ll be sharing practices to soothe your nervous system, soften the upper body, release emotional tension, and invite more ease into your heart. You may possibly find a subtle unwinding through the ribs, breath work for emotional spaciousness, or simple rituals for reconnecting to yourself.

One way to connect with your heart could be to try this Anāhata Breath Practice

(3 minutes)

  • Possibly placing one hand on the center of your chest and the other on your belly.

  • Inhale gently through your nose, feeling your ribs moving away from one another.

  • Exhale slowly, allowing any tension in your chest melt.

  • Imagine or feel your breath moving in and out of your heart space.

  • Repeat for 10–12 cycles.

  • Let your breath be your anchor this season. 🙏
