What is CranioSacral Therapy?
CranioSacral Therapy (CST) is a gentle, hands-on form of bodywork that supports your nervous system and your body’s natural ability to find ease and balance. By working with subtle patterns held deep within the body, CST can help relieve tension, reduce pain, and support overall wellbeing.
This approach was developed by osteopathic physician Dr. John E. Upledger through years of clinical observation and research at Michigan State University, where he served as a professor of biomechanics.
During a session, the practitioner uses an extremely light touch — often no more than the weight of a nickel — to listen to and gently support the soft tissues surrounding the brain and spinal cord. This work helps release restrictions in the system, allowing your body to settle, reorganize, and function with greater ease.
Many people seek CranioSacral Therapy both for specific concerns and as a supportive, preventative practice, as it encourages regulation, resilience, and whole-body health.
